This training will provide participants with information relevant to Command Teams, Family Readiness Liaisons and Family Readiness Group Volunteers on the administration of a unit Family Readiness Program. Participants will have the opportunity to explore the definitions and missions of Family Programs, Family Readiness, and the Family Readiness Group. Regulatory guidance and the supporting Soldiers and Families throughout the Soldier’s Life Cycle are major focuses of the training. Participants will be able to distinguish between the various roles and responsibilities of Command Team Members and identify Family Programs and staff positions to assist with the implementation of a healthy, holistic Family Readiness Program. This training facilitates the development of a unit Family Readiness Plan and Family Readiness Group Action Plan.

Audience: Command Team Members, Family Readiness Liaisons, FRG Volunteers, Youth Volunteers, Chaplains, and Unit Full Time Staff Supporting Family Readiness (Does not include FRSAs)

Family Readiness Groups in a New Era

This training is designed to provide FRG Volunteers with the knowledge, tools and skills required to build and maintain an effective FRG. Participants will explore the definition and mission of the FRG. FRG operations, exploration of regulatory guidance and supporting Soldiers and Families during their entire life cycle are major focuses of the training. Finally, participants will be able to distinguish between the various roles and responsibilities of Command Team members and Volunteers.

Audience: Statutory FRG Volunteers, Family Readiness Liaisons and Command Team

Army Family Team-Building Workshop Level I

AFTB is a readiness training program that helps to educate Army Families who want to learn more about military life. This training program assists the Army community in developing skills and encouraging behaviors that strengthen self-reliance, promote retention, and enhance readiness.

AFTB Level I is for soldiers and Family members who are relatively new to the Army (less than 5 years) or those who want a refresher.

Topics include: Military Terms, Acronyms, Customs and Courtesies, Chain of Command, Benefits, Entitlements and Compensation, Family and Military Expectations, Impact of the Mission of Family Life, Basic Problem Solving

Audience: Statutory Volunteers, Family Members, Commander, Rear Detachment Commander (RDC), Sergeant Major, First Sergeant, Unit Support Staff [Unit Administrator (UA), Supervisory Staff Administrator (SSA), Family Readiness Support Assistant (FRSA)], ARFP Staff

Army Family Team-Building Workshop Level II

AFTB Level II training is designed for Family members who are interested in gaining life skills to become community leaders. The skill sets taught in AFTB Level II are individual personal development, introduction to leadership and how to deal effectively with others.

Topics include: Introduction To Effective Leadership, Volunteer and Marketing Management, Management Skills (i.e. communication, conflict resolution, group dynamics), Problem Solving Techniques, Networking with Community Agencies, Building a Resource Library, Family Support Groups, Military Grade and Command Structure, Traditions, Customs, Courtesies and Protocol

Army Family Team-Building Workshop Level III

AFTB Level III training focuses on inspiring and mentoring others into leadership positions. It is designed to develop advanced leadership abilities and enhance participants’ current skills.

Topics Include: Effective Communication, Leadership and Listening Skills, Coaching, Mentoring and Advising, Developing Presentations, Planning and, Conducting Workshops, Building a Cohesive Team, Effective Public and Media Relations, Understanding the Army Organization and Political Issues
