Command Team Member Training
Family Readiness is a Commander’s Program. Family Readiness training plays a vital role in orientating a commander into their newly assigned positions. An overview of Army Reserve Family Programs is conducted at the Company Commander and First Sergeant Course (CCFSC) as well as the Battalion and Brigade Commander Pre-Command Course (BBPCC). These blocks of instruction are designed to provide newly assigned commanders and senior enlisted advisors a brief overview of Army Reserve Family Programs and inform them of the tools at their disposal to manage and maintain a functional Family Readiness Program. More in-depth instruction for developing and maintaining a functioning Family Readiness Program may be received in the following courses.
Family Readiness Liaison Training: FRG 101

This training orients new and existing Family Readiness Liaisons (FRLs) to Unit Family Readiness, the roles and responsibilities of the unit’s Family Readiness Team, and FRL specific job-related duties, skills and/or tasks.

Family Programs University

This training will provide participants with information relevant to Command Teams, Family Readiness Liaisons and Family Readiness Group Volunteers on the administration of a unit Family Readiness Program. Participants will have the opportunity to explore the definitions and missions of Family Programs, Family Readiness, and the Family Readiness Group. Regulatory guidance and the supporting Soldiers and Families throughout the Soldier’s Life Cycle are major focuses of the training. Participants will be able to distinguish between the various roles and responsibilities of Command Team Members and identify Family Programs and staff positions to assist with the implementation of a healthy, holistic Family Readiness Program. This training facilitates the development of a unit Family Readiness Plan and Family Readiness Group Action Plan.
Audience: Command Team Members, Family Readiness Liaisons, FRG Volunteers, Youth Volunteers, Chaplains, and Unit Full Time Staff Supporting Family Readiness (Does not include FRSAs)
Chain of Command Training

This training will provide participants with information relevant to Command Teams on the administration of a unit Family Readiness Program designed to address needs throughout the Soldiers Life Cycle. Participants will be able to distinguish between the various roles and responsibilities of Command Team Members and identify Family Programs and staff positions to assist with the implementation of a healthy, holistic Family Readiness Program. This training facilitates the development of a unit Family Readiness Plan.
Audience: Commander, Executive Officer, Sergeant Major, First Sergeant, Family Readiness Liaison (FRL), Unit Administrator (UA), and Supervisory Staff Administrator (SSA) may attend at the Commanders discretion.
Family Readiness Groups in a New Era

This training is designed to provide FRG Volunteers with the knowledge, tools and skills required to build and maintain an effective FRG. Participants will explore the definition and mission of the FRG. FRG operations, exploration of regulatory guidance and supporting Soldiers and Families during their entire life cycle are major focuses of the training. Finally, participants will be able to distinguish between the various roles and responsibilities of Command Team members and Volunteers.
Audience: Statutory FRG Volunteers, Family Readiness Liaisons and Commanders
Battalion/Brigade Pre-Command Course (BBPCC) Spouse Training
The Senior Spouse course is designed to enhance the skills Senior Spouses need for the leadership roles they hold during their spouse’s assignment. This course is geared specifically toward Spouses of Battalion and Brigade Commanders and Command Sergeants Major. Spouses attend the Senior Spouse course during the time their Soldier is attending BBPCC.

Soldier Life Cycle Training

This training provides Family Readiness Liaisons and senior enlisted advisors with the skills, knowledge, and resources to effectively support Soldiers and Families throughout the Soldier’s Life Cycle. Participants receive instruction in all 5 the phases of the Soldier’s Life cycle:
- New to the Army Reserve
- New to the Unit;
- Assuming a leadership role;
- Mobilization/Sustainment/Reunion
- Transition- Retirement-Transition: Wounded.
