Homework

Homework is an important part of every child's education. It teaches children how to work independently and be resourceful, follow directions, manage time, begin and complete a task, and practice what's been learned in class. In recent years teachers have begun to assign more homework at every grade level. In some communities, middle school students may have one to two hours of homework a night, as well as homework on weekends. By encouraging responsible homework habits, you can help your middle school child do well in school now and in the future.

Applying to College

Choosing a college is an exciting journey where you begin planning the next "chapter" of your life. In deciding on a college, you will look at your own interests, skills, and needs and will eventually find the college that fits you best. With over 3,000 schools to choose from, you might feel overwhelmed at the prospect. But you'll find it easier if you take time to think about your needs and goals, set up a general timetable, and organize your search. Start with the "big picture" and gradually narrow down the choices until you find the schools you want to apply to.
